Pitlochry Visitor Centre
Opened by Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon, the visitor centre is an important part of telling the story of the Pitlochry hydro-electric dam. This dam was a first in it’s time, and represents a proud example of pioneering Scottish engineering. The use of the façade product oko skin, a textured GRC plank, in the earthy Terra colour works well within the landscape and provides a through colour material that will weather slowly and evenly over time. It was rivet fixed although you can’t easily pick these up visually due to the excellent colour matching of the aluminium rivet heads. The staggered layout façade design gives a traditional feel to a modern façade product. Oko skin by Rieder also benefits from a top A1 fire rating.
